People

Ruth Rogers
Ruth does this because of her edifying heart for serving the community. We are blessed in our city to have a wide variety of christian expression when it comes to building community. From people wanting to create life groups to worship events like the ones in the farm. For Ruth and her husband, their expression to love others is by building events that bless the community. Events like this, although not inherently Christian focussed, gives moments and opportunity for people to build community and build relationships.

There’s something about the clay and the wheel and the act of making that was something I have never experienced before. I felt really close to Jesus making these objects out of clay. Every time I would go to the studio, I would feel super close to God. I would sit down and think ‘cool me and Jesus hanging out, making some pots’. For me it’s a creative art form that blends my desire to be close to Jesus and the spirituality within it.

I’m obsessed with artistic intervention and urban space. There is a term called tactful urbanism. It’s creative problem solving for urban issues, for the community and for the people and I just love that so much. I’m working on a few projects with the council and various things like the chorus murals. Taking an electrical box that is often tagged, vandalised, and beautifying it for the streets.
