In the past few years, ever since I undertook marketing and advertising Eastercamp Southern, I've slowly changed the make up and the visual identity of the camp.
In previous camps, there was no defining christian theme or message in the way that we used to advertise camp.
This led to two unfortunate results.
For the Christians, they were unsure about the nature of camp and thus a large number of churches stopped taking part.
For the non Christians, they too were unsure about the nature of a camp and it felt like we tricked them into coming into a christian event.
I didn't want that. I acknowledge that I am a very small part of this large team, especially do I play an even smaller part in the greater church of New Zealand, but for the part I stewarded I wanted to do things just.
The changes were slow at first, to try and gain the trust and buy in from the youth groups and as well as the media team. But as the years progressed I was able to also adapt my knowledge about the different sensibilities each denominations have to try and make it as comprehensive to the wider church body.
This video along side the many videos / content i'll produce for the camp incorporates the use both te reo and motifs such as the church of New Zealand. Things that I envisage as a greater importance in the years to follow.
